Sending in your application ahead of time gives our team the chance to review and approve it before June 5, so you’re ready to meet pets right away. 3. Explore our adoptable dogs and cats. Browse the animals currently looking for homes. You might spot your future companion. 4. Attend one of our weekly adoption fairs. Meet our pets in person, talk with staff and volunteers, and find the match that feels just right. Adoption fairs are held at the AARF House every Saturday, 302 Thurston Street, Winston-Salem (dogs, 11-1; cats 11-2). Attend the Summer Lovin’ extended adoption hours on Friday, June 12 from 6-8 p.m.

A marvel of interwoven musicianship and testament to the duo’s singular camaraderie, the album encapsulates the two veteran guitarist-songwriters’ mutual admiration and effortless compatibility as they swap and share nine new songs of dazzling dexterity and grace recorded almost entirely recorded on acoustic guitars. Though their initial objective had been all instrumental, the natural flow of the sessions led the duo to begin incorporating vocal tracks. It’s so strange to me that some horses can go their entire lives without ever really being loved by a human. Admired maybe. Used, bought, sold, ridden, managed… but not truly loved for who they are. You can feel it in so many sale ads. “2020 model.” “Kick ride.” “No brakes.” Like they’re vehicles instead of living beings with personalities, preferences, fears, and little quirks that make them them. It’s rare to see someone say: “his favorite treat is bananas,” or “she loves being bathed,” or “he follows me around like a dog.” So much of a horse’s value becomes tied to what they can produce, tolerate, or survive. And when horses arrive here — even ones in far better condition than Steve — I always catch myself wondering the same thing: did anyone ever tell you they loved you? Project Steve is our commitment to making sure this little horse knows the answer to that question for the rest of his life. Steve is facing extensive diagnostics, surgery, rehabilitation, and lifelong specialty care, and we cannot do it alone.
