AARF is making it easier than ever to find your perfect companion with our Summer Lovin’ Adoption Special! Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, we’re offering 50% off all adoption fees for a limited time, June 5–13. It’s the perfect moment to welcome a new best friend into your life - and we’re here to help you every step of the way. To get started, follow these simple steps: 1. Learn about our adoption process. Visit the Adopt section to learn how we match pets with loving families and what to expect along the way. 2. Submit your adoption application early. Sending in your application ahead of time gives our team the chance to review and approve it before June 5, so you’re ready to meet pets right away. 3. Explore our adoptable dogs and cats. Browse the animals currently looking for homes. You might spot your future companion. 4. Attend one of our weekly adoption fairs. Meet our pets in person, talk with staff and volunteers, and find the match that feels just right. Adoption fairs are held at the AARF House every Saturday, 302 Thurston Street, Winston-Salem (dogs, 11-1; cats 11-2). Attend the Summer Lovin’ extended adoption hours on Friday, June 12 from 6-8 p.m.
TOMORROW! We’re joining the Blooming Together Intergenerational Arts Festival, where we'll host a special film a/ppreciation workshop about the film WALL-E. WALL-E is one of the defining films of Pixar’s golden era, celebrating connection through art and music with groundbreaking animation. With a near-silent first act, it is a wonderful film to study for techniques in visual storytelling, as well as an uplifiting narrative about people coming together to make the world a better place. Screening of the 2009 film (1 hr 38 mins) to be followed by a discussion with a/perture curator/programmer Jake Laystrom. The day will be full of ways to learn and engage with the arts for all ages.
