@miss.nikki.morgan music is pure dynamite and one of the most genuine people you will meet. When you talk to her you sense that she doesn’t try to be anything other than the raw version of who she is and that’s a kind, humble, passionate, confident, fun, good person. Her songs benefit from and reflect that rawness when she performs them.

Her songwriting is top notch, I applaud her for refusing to subscribe to the theory that you have to play cover songs at venues to entice people to accept your originals. That resonates with me because I’ve never compromised and have always played my original music on my terms. I’ve heard people say for years that you can’t play originals at smaller venues because people expect covers and how they tried to do it and no one liked it etc. Those are excuses for not being able to write a good song, if you have a great song people will listen to and welcome it because someone had to write all these great songs that musicians feel they must cover.

I’ll flat out say that Nikki is probably the best songwriter I’ve had on the show. The maturity and strength in her songs reels you in and forces you to take note. They’re clever and don’t follow any genre. She conveys her stories with depth but in a concise way, there’s no fat and most importantly she takes you somewhere and paints a picture with her music. She’s the kind of artist that will end up throwing her audience curve ball after curve ball because she’ll follow what inspires her in the moment not what they expect. I think that’s what a real artist who processes true creativity does.

I found that Nikki and I have a lot in common, our approach to music is very similar. So much so that she wasn’t afraid to ask me as someone who’s done this for a long time, a few questions. So many musicians are wrapped up in their ego and they can’t learn anything else because they’ve got it all figured out. Nikki was more interested in getting the answer to her questions than she was about her ego. Her career is young but very much on the right track and who she is as a person and an artist will take her far, I hope our paths cross again. Go see her tonite at Wiseman Brewing Winston Salem NC ?
