It came to our attention Saturday that there was a draft issue with our 2023 release of Bourbon Barrel Aged Long Forgotten Barleywine. We had empty draft space for the keg, so we tapped and flushed the line. Discovered later, that tap previously held SHIfT, our super hoppy, hazy imperial IPA. When the line was actively flushing, no off-flavors could be detected. But as soon as the beer sat in the line for any amount of time, it began to pick up those hazy IPA characterist…ics. As you can imagine, those flavors did not favorably blend with a 2yr old Weller-barreled barleywine. Once we fully understood what happened, we corrected the issue in-house but many were already served the “SHIfT-infused” beer. (Our taps and lines are cleaned every two weeks, but unfortunately, today, SEPT 11th, is cleaning day.) We want to apologize to all of our patrons who purchased the faulty draft pour. We hold all of our beer to a high standard and never would serve a beer that less than represents Incendiary, but especially in our barrel aged program. We take too much pride in our beer and the faith that our patrons put into us, trusting they will receive a high quality product. If you are one who experienced one of these off-pours, we would like to invite you back out and have a beer on us. If you traveled and are unable to make it back anytime soon, please message us so we can make it right. On a positive note, the bottles taste fantastic, and are what you have come to expect from Incendiary’s barrel aging program. If any of you sample your bottle and are less than satisfied, we will purchase the bottle back from you. If you have any concerns about your BA Barleywine, please email chris@incendiarybrewing.com so we can make it right . Thank you for your continued support and see you very soon.
