Here’s a few photo throwbacks from around 2002 at The Artichoke in Wichita KS. You might not know it from listening to my original music now but I when started out playing in public in my early 20’s I only performed the songs of my Country Blues heroes from the 30’s and 40’s with an acoustic guitar and metal bodied resonator in front a Shure SM 57 microphone.

Hotamighty, I’m stepping into the time machine in the Spring honey! Based on the recent success of my Low Down Blues Revue series of shows at Sweet Old Bill’s, I’m also going to be doing a series of solo acoustic Country Blues shows at Magnolia Blue (in High Point too).

The four installments of these early matinee shows will begin in April and I’ll be covering songs by Charlie Patton, Willie Brown, Son House, Bukka White, Robert Johnson, Blind Boy Fuller, Blind Blake, Blind Lemon Jefferson, Lightnin’ Hopkins and a lot more.

While original music is my main focus, these side Blues projects are a lot of fun, take me back and keep me from forgetting my musical roots and I think there’s a need for it since hardly anyone is breathing life into this music anymore. It ain’t a museum piece folks.
