Happy Hill has played a prominent role in the life of Winston-Salem’s African American community since the early years of the 19th century. Triad Cultural Arts has developed the Shotgun House Legacy Site to illuminate the local Black/African American story from a local perspective and illustrate how the Happy Hill neighborhood and the greater Winston-Salem community fits within the national narrative.
