From light and fruity to chilled and easy-drinking, summer reds offer a whole new world of flavors to explore during the warmer months. First up, let’s talk about Beaujolais. Made from the Gamay grape, Beaujolais is the epitome of summer red wine. With its bright acidity, juicy red fruit flavors, and hint of floral notes, Beaujolais is like a picnic in a bottle—light, lively, and utterly charming. Serve it slightly chilled for the ultimate refreshment on a hot day. Next on the list is Pinot Noir. Known for its versatility and elegance, Pinot Noir is a summer staple that pairs beautifully with a wide range of dishes, from grilled salmon to barbecue chicken. Look for lighter-bodied expressions from cooler regions like Oregon or New Zealand, where the wine’s delicate flavors shine brightest. For those who crave a bit more depth and complexity, consider exploring Grenache-based wines. Whether it’s a Côtes du Rhône from France or a Garnacha from Spain, Grenache offers ripe berry flavors, soft tannins, and a touch of spice that make it a perfect match for summer grilling and outdoor gatherings. And let’s not forget about the classic summer barbecue wine—Zinfandel. With its bold fruit flavors, hints of pepper, and robust character, Zinfandel is the ideal companion for burgers, ribs, and all your favorite grilled fare. Plus, its high alcohol content and rich texture make it a great wine for sipping by the fire pit as the sun sets on a warm summer evening. So, whether you’re lounging by the pool, firing up the grill, or simply soaking up the sunshine on your patio, don’t forget to stock up on these summer red wonders. With their vibrant flavors and easy-drinking style, they’re sure to add a touch of warmth and excitement to your summer adventures. Cheers to summer reds. Did you know Buies Market is on Untappd?
