New Wines this Week!! Cantina Morone “Camarosa” Benevento Rosato IGP, Italy – This is autumnal rosato. Think Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo, or Ciliegiolo. Oenologist Anna della Porta preserves the macerated red berry aromas of this wine by moving the hand-picked fruit gently via gravity into the cellar, keeping it under a blanket of inert gas to prevent oxidation, and fermenting the wine in temperature controlled tanks, with minimal sulfur additions. Suggested Food Pairings: Olive Salad, Tomatoes Reign. of Terroir, Chenin Blanc, South Africa – This Chenin offers aromas of stone fruits and white blossoms with a lingering zest that gives the wine a fresh and crisp character. Suggested Pairings: Spicy Food, Lean Fish Lady Hill, Cabernet Sauvignon, Washington – Chocolate covered cherry and subtle blackberry liqueur combine New World fruit flavors with savory olive tapenade, dried herb de provence and a tinge of minerality found in ancient volcanic soils. The subtle wood impact of 10% new and once filled barrels keeps the focus on fruit and spice, while maintaining the characteristic dusty tannins and lingering finish that Cabernet Sauvignon has become famous for. Suggested Food Pairings: Veal, Pizza Caligore, Single Vineyard Syrah, Argentina – Right away this smells gamy, roasted and like a smoldering campfire, with dark berry and black plum in the background. This ripe and meaty Syrah is a touch soupy in feel, with blackberry and chocolate flavors. Jammy weight on the finish is offset by tannic bite. Suggested Food Pairings: Beef, Game Pilgrim Wines, Viura, South Africa – This white varietal that has its origin in Spain, is a versatile but mysterious grape to make wine from. Made from only 200 vines growing in the Breedekloof Valley, this wine lures the senses with aromas of chamomile, elder flower and jasmine flower, rolling into flavours of fine citrus blossom sweetness, vanilla and freshly ground cinnamon sticks. Suggested Food Pairings: Asian Food, Trout. The Perfect Wine for Thanksgiving Dinner Thanksgiving’s around the corner, and you know what that means – it’s time to talk wine pairings that’ll have your taste buds doing the happy dance! For the turkey lovers out there, a classic Pinot Noir is your wingman. Its red berry goodness complements the bird’s savory flavors like a culinary match made in heaven. Feeling a bit adventurous? Try a Grenache – its spicy kick adds a festive twist to your feast. If you’re rocking a honey-glazed ham at the table, Riesling is your go-to. Its sweetness perfectly balances the savory and brings out the best in that succulent ham. Plus, it’s a crowd-pleaser for those who prefer a touch of sweetness. For the rebels skipping the traditional route with a hearty roast or even BBQ, reach for a bold Zinfandel. Its robust character can stand up to the rich, smoky goodness of grilled delights. And don’t forget the vegetarians holding it down with a flavorful mushroom dish – hello, Pinot Noir or earthy Cabernet Sauvignon! These wines enhance the umami and make every bite a celebration. So, whether you’re Team Turkey, Team Ham, or Team Tofurky, there’s a wine sidekick waiting to elevate your Thanksgiving feast. Cheers to a table filled with gratitude and fantastic sips! ????????
