UPDATE: Cotton, another of these puppies is struggling and very lethargic and is being admitted to CVS with Pippin this evening. AARF’s vet bill for CVS alone will be over $3000, and that doesn’t include the care given at other vets, and the care given in their foster homes. We are praying they pull through this! Please help us to help them get through this. ‘Twas just before Christmas when AARF took in a litter of seven unwanted 8 week-old puppies. AARF fosters, despite t…he holiday, rose to the occasion, and this litter of adorable Australian Shepherd mix puppies is now in the AARF program. They were thin, had fleas, and worms. Nothing food, flea & worm treatment couldn’t handle. But, by Christmas Eve, one of the puppies had stopped eating, drinking, and playing and was in severe distress. All AARF partner vet offices were closed, so off we went to Carolina Veterinary Specialist (CVS). After waiting for a few hours in the parking lot, we found out the culprit was Coccidiosis, a parasitic infestation of the GI tract. A few days later, another one stopped eating, drinking, and playing. Back to CVS for a new diagnosis of Parvovirus (Parvo), a severe infection of the GI tract that is highly contagious and if left untreated, may be fatal. This puppy was admitted. All 7 puppies now need treatment. Parvo is serious and expensive. We’re not out of the woods yet. While some seem to be turning the corner, another one is currently fighting for his life at CVS. Please keep these pups in your prayers. Consider donating to the “Lord of the Rings” Parvo puppies to help cover these unexpected costs. On the donate page, leave a note in the comments box that this is for the medical care of these puppies. AARF is grateful for your help. To donate to AARF: http://tinyurl.com/aarfgiving
