Day 28: Remembering Local History during Black History Month. We end our remembrance of the area in the Innovation Quarter that was once the Depot Street neighborhood with the Adinkra symbol of West Africa, which represents unity. Mural artist Leo Rucker included this symbol as a reminder to all of us to contribute to the community and that in unity lies strength. We encourage the entire Innovation Quarter community to remember this symbol not only during Black History Month… but throughout the entire year. #inclusiveinnovation . . . The Depot Street Renaissance mural by Leo Rucker represents the contributions of just a few of the many individuals, businesses and institutions that made the neighborhood that is now the Innovation Quarter a prestigious community and a thriving hub of Black enterprise.
